Martin Scothern Smarts on Invitation Day The Gents Invitation Day was held Saturday 16th June with 90 teams competing on the day in two shotgun starts. Many visitors commented on how well the course looked and played which is a credit to all the Green Staff. The conditions in the afternoon were a little trickier due to the wind but the best score of the day came from Brett Smart and his guest none other than our Head Greenkeeper Martin Scothern. Martin had a fantastic day playing the course he spends many hours on but not usually with golf clubs in his hand. Despite this he still managed to record six birdies with a team total of 46 points. Morning results - First place - Brett Smart and M Scothern - 46 points.
- Second place - Mike Finden and A Cook - 46 points.
- Third place - David Brown and K Burns - 45 points.
Afternoon results - First place - Mark Lievesley and A Flowers - 44 points.
- Second place - Adam Black and J Black - 43 points.
- Third place - Callum Cafferkey and N Lawson - 43 points.

Family BBQ Sunday 15th will also be a Family BBQ day with all members invited along with their partners and children to drop into the club between 2.00pm and 6.00pm for a burger or hot dog. The World Cup Final will also be kicking off at 4.00pm, which probably won’t hold much interest for most of us. There is no dress code on the day and we would encourage as many members as possible to join us for a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Gents Medal Just a reminder to all members that there are Medal Competitions on Thursday 21st and Saturday 23rd June. There is no starting before the first competition time or from the 10th tee, so if you wish to play you must book a time in the pro shop if not before. Both of these Medals will also count to the Salvers which this year is players best six nett rounds to give an aggregate score. |
