Captains' competitions There are a couple of spots available for this Saturday 30th June Captains Day 8.30am for a team of two players and there is a spot for a member to complete a team at 14.39pm. It would be great if we could have a complete field for Captains Day. It is free to enter with a halfway house in operation and raffle tickets to help support the Captain and his Charity.
There is also Captains Competition Sunday 15th July with tee times 9.00am until 12.00pm which will be a fourball AM/AM. Teams will be drawn from four pots with players placed in pot 1,2,3 or 4 dependent on handicap giving all teams a mix of handicaps. Open to all Gents and Lady members with £5 entrance fee. There will also be a Family BBQ on the same day with all members invited along with their partners and children to drop into the club between 2.00pm and 6.00pm for a Burger or Hot Dog. There will also be the World Cup Final kicking off at 4.00pm. There is no dress code on the day and we would encourage as many members as possible to join us for a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Pro's Days I will be running three competitions next week with all monies collected being paid out in pro shop vouchers, so this is a great opportunity for all members win some golf gear. Wednesday 4th July will be Ladies AM AM; two from three players, Thursday 5th July will see all players trying to beat the Medal score set by Glyn Krause on the day and Saturday 7th July will be a betterball challenge against the scoring of myself and Steve Sayers General Manager! Sunday Scrubbers New members (and some established members) may by unaware of the WPGC institution that is the Sunday Scrubbers. This is an informal group that meets on the first Sunday of every month for a friendly competition (this month it’s a Texas Scramble Sunday 1st July) and to raise some money for a worthy cause (currently, the Relay for Life, a charity that supports cancer survivors). It’s a great way of making new friends and having a pleasant round of golf in good company on a Sunday morning. Just report to the Pro Shop at around 8:15am on Sunday, pay your £2 entrance fee, and sign up; all members are welcome, and you will be randomly drawn in a group of three. You can also enjoy the delights of a bacon or sausage cob and a reviving drink after nine holes for a reduced price! Details of future competitions will be posted on the noticeboard in the rear corridor leading to the men’s locker room. |
