Wollaton Park Golf Club - Temporary local rule The Temporary Local Rule should be read in conjunction with the Local Rules. The following Temporary Local Rule is currently in force. 1. Temporary Fencing, where temporary fencing is in use to protect a part of the course, relief from interference may be taken under Rule 24-2. In addition, if the fencing is on the player’s line of play, relief without penalty may be taken as follows: i) Identify the point nearest to where the ball lies that is not nearer the hole and where, if the ball were there, there would be no such interference and, ii) Drop within one club-length of that point and no nearer the hole. However, a player may not obtain relief under this Temporary Local Rule if: a) It is clearly unreasonable for the player to make a stroke such that the ball could finish on a direct line to the hole, because of interference by anything other than the fencing; or b) It would be clearly unreasonable to expect the player to be able to strike the ball far enough towards the hole to actually reach the fencing; or c) The ball lies in a bunker. Penalty for breach of temporary local rule (except when otherwise provided or covered by a Rule of Golf); match play – loss of hole ; stroke play – two strokes. 2. Temporary Putting Greens; A temporary putting green, including the paint line which indicates it *, is a “wrong putting green” when not being used as the putting green for the hole being played. When a temporary putting green for a hole is being used as the putting green, the permanent green for that hole is a wrong putting green. Wrong putting greens must be so treated (Rule 25-3) and the ball must not be played from them. * Note : If there is no such paint line round an area sometimes used as a temporary putting green, it is not a “wrong putting green”. Penalty for breach of temporary local rule (except when otherwise provided or covered by a Rule of Golf); match play – loss of hole ; stroke play – two strokes. |
